Piano Student Log

How do I track ALL our 42 students’ progress, in one place? The answer: I use the PIANO STUDENT LOG, a good system to organise information about all our students in one place. It’s essentially a table on an A3 document on Word, with columns outlining the students we have, the different resources that we give students, where the students are up to, and more. It’s a great system to track ALL our students’ progress in one place, and see what resources they need and where they are up to. I (Shenhav, Founder) go through it once a month, and update it for each of my students, then also go through it with my tutors and update it for their students as well. Please see a sample of the Piano Student Log below:

My system is: I colour code the students’ names in yellow if they are fast learners/advanced, in green if they are medium learners/intermediate, and blue if they are slow learners/beginners. I then go through each column an see if anything needs to be updated, and if I need to provide any additional resource. The pink question mark stands for ‘re-evaluate in 4 weeks’ and blue cross stands for ‘re-evaluate in 6 weeks’. I do the same process with my tutors’ students:

I also make sure that I provide my tutors with the appropriate resources that they need, and follow up with them to ensure they have provided the resources to the students. We have a Google Drive folder to store all the resources digitally, to allow for easy access.
