Shenhav Nave
Founder of Ivory Tutoring & Tutor - Piano
Shenhav is doing her Masters in Industrial & Organizational Psychology at the University of Western Australia. She has been playing piano for 17 years (since she was 9 years old) and teaching for 15 years (since 11 years old). Shenhav has been teaching kids aged 4-14 predominantly, but has also taught adults. She has her Grade 8 AMEB Certificate in Piano for Leisure, Grades 1-7 AMEB Piano Classical, and Grade 3 Certificate in Theory, issued by the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB).
โPlaying piano throughout my childhood and early adult years (during university) has provided me with a great relaxation tool, has helped me to be more productive with my uni studies, and has empowered me to be confident and pass on my passion to those around meโ.
Emma Bristow-Stagg
Tutor - Guitar
Emma is beginning a Bachelor of Science at UWA in 2025, majoring in Psychology and Neuroscience. Her musical journey began at age nine with piano, which she studied for three years before picking up the guitar at 14. She also studied Music ATAR in year 11 and 12. With experience in classical, electric, and acoustic guitar, Emma has played in multiple bands, performed solo and within bands, and been part of a guitar ensemble. She believes music can be for everyone and that a true passion for it begins with engaging, enjoyable lessons.
Matthew Walmsley
Tutor - Piano
Matthew is beginning a Bachelor of Music degree at WAAPA as a first year student in 2025, studying composition and sonic arts. He has been playing piano for 7 years and has accumulated much experience in music performance and sound production. In 2023, he completed Grade 7 Piano and Grade 3 Music Theory through the AMEB curriculum. Matthew is secondarily a guitarist and singer, having been apart of a senior vocal group, a jazz band and a folk band. Matthew has been teaching piano to students from a wide range of years groups ever since 2024. He thoroughly enjoys being able to pass on the passion of music to more people and inspiring the next generation of pianists.
Ashlyn Cole
Tutor - Piano
Ashlyn is a first year physiotherapy student at Curtin University, and has been playing piano for over 13 years (since she was 4 years old). She completed her Grade 7 AMEB Piano for Leisure exam in 2023, and has since been preparing for her Grade 8 Piano exam. She has experience in both classical and contemporary piano, studying contemporary piano for Music ATAR in year 11 and 12, and playing both genres in AMEB exams.
Throughout high school, Ashlyn was involved in bands, orchestras, choirs, and musicals, and studied ATAR Music, which deepened her appreciation for a wide range of musical styles. A highlight of her music journey so far was playing a piano solo on the Perth Concert Hall stage.
Ashlyn loves music, and she aims to pass this love and passion for music onto her students, helping them develop their skills and love for music in a fun, encouraging, and rewarding environment.
Philippa Kapp
Tutor - Singing
Philippa Kapp is a talented performer living in Perth. She is studying a Bachelor of Contemporary Music majoring in Vocal Performance at WAAPA. She has actively participated in various vocal a cappella ensembles, choirs, Rock bands, and jazz bands. She has received critical acclaim for her performances, such as her lead role in a Mamma Mia musical production. She has had extensive training in choirs and Contemporary singing; reaching a high distinction in her AMEB grade 8 exam. Philippa will be teaching Contemporary Vocals at a beginners level, with the ability to travel to you.
Ian Stone
Tutor - Piano
Ian is a third year university student, currently working towards a Bachelor of Music and Arts at UWA. Originally from the USA, he has studied piano for 10 years and participated in numerous recitals overseas. He is beyond excited to be continuing his musical and academic journey here in Australia, where he has had the pleasure of working at a great institution with some truly wonderful people.
Piano is Ianโs main passion, and he hopes to pass on a love for the instrument (and music in general) to future generations of talented artists. He believes the teacher should aim to grow as much the student and is committed to always improving his methods. The goal is to have fun, learn a lot, and help others discover their inner musician.
